Johns House

About this project

This home sits above the Frankton Arm of Lake Wakatipu – Queenstown, on a steep sloping site, taking in the breathtaking 180 degree views over the lake from Walter Peak and across to the Remarkables and Queenstown airport, while maximising the sun from the north-west.

Our brief was to design a warm, modern, architectural home that suited a professional person but could be easily utilised as a family home in the years to come. A home that took advantage of all the available views and sun and fitted into its natural surroundings.

Positioned on 2 split levels; the upper floor encompasses a generous master suite, situated to take full advantage of the views towards Walter Peak and is complete with Walk-in-Robe and Ensuite.
A separate Lounge is situated in the northern corner, with open-plan Kitchen/ Dining and recessed Living Room to the east
and south. A cantilevered deck off the Kitchen/Dining area enables occupants to sit and take-in the magnificent vistas over Lake Wakatipu to the Remarkables and Queenstown Airport.

An expansive landscaped courtyard to the north-west provides ample area for outdoor entertaining, complete with schist stone walls and spa pool. The ground floor comprises 2x double bedrooms with separate bathroom. It then descends further to a large double garage with workshop and storage spaces.
